Signage Company Thrives In A Down Economy

by wlconcepts 19. October 2011 05:47

You can call it The Great Recession, The Mini Depression or something similar, but one fact is abundantly clear: there are small to medium sized businesses thriving despite the “down” economy.

Case in point: Long Island New York’s WL Concepts. A multifaceted signage design, manufacturing and distribution company that has placed significant emphasis on innovation, reinvestment in manufacturing infrastructure and a realization that superior customer service will definitely be recognized and rewarded.

Owner and Long Island resident Bill Levine is a Vietnam combat veteran who understood early on that the traditional American virtue of hard work, quality products and relationship building will help his business to grow.

Mr. Levine was recently profiled in Newsday, the metropolitan Long Island, New York daily newspaper, which was intrigued by his fresh and clearly defined approach to product and marketing.  As Newsday pointed out, little did Mr. Levine initially realize that his last job would eventually lead him into what would become a 3.5 million plus operation that employs 20 people.

Mr. Levine’s company has established a loyal national clientele. Many of their customers are repeat clients who have come to depend on Mr. Levine and WL Concepts for innovative product design, quality manufacturing standards and timely delivery.

WL Concepts Director of Marketing Marian Keilson told us that the company is in the advanced stage of expansion and renovation to include a 15,000 square-foot-facility in Freeport, where operations will be consolidated and production increased.

We took a personal tour this summer of the new facility and it was impressive to see the array of state-of-the-art design and fabrication equipment that justified a $300,000 plus investment in new technology.

From design to production to installation, the company has maintained a vision of custom, eye-appealing displays that will make an impression and capture market share for its clients. The company’s goal is to blend their vision with the materials and their creativity, resulting in a masterful shaping of client company image and overall brand elevation.

“It goes without saying that you want a signage, graphics and display company with experience and a proven track record,” Mr. Levine observes.

Ms. Keilson additionally points out that a client should not be afraid to ask what type of experience they have and who they’ve worked with. A good visual display company will have photos and samples of their displays for you to look through.  They’ll also keep up with the latest marketing trends and know just how to get your business noticed.

Create Eye-Popping Displays Using Canvas Prints

by wlconcepts 15. January 2009 09:28

Making your business look unique helps it to rise above the competition in the mind of your customers. The interior graphics of your company can help create a distinguishing ambience, but too many businesses end up looking alike because they use the same display signage and materials. Instead, establish a distinctive atmosphere by decorating with canvas prints created by WL Concepts.

Where Can Canvas Prints Be Used?

You can use canvas prints instead of more conventional sign materials for almost any kind of display signage. Most businesses use canvas prints as decorative touches. You should cover up any uninviting expanses of bare walls with visual displays. These will add warmth while also maintaining a professional appearance.

Canvas prints can also be used for more functional display signage. WL Concepts can use large format printing to put your corporate logo on this material. The name of your company spelled out on a large canvas behind the receptionist's desk will create a sophisticated, unique impression.

The Advantages Of Canvas

Canvas has been the preferred medium of painters for centuries, and it’s easy to see why. The material adds a unique, artistic feel to any piece. Texture is one of the major design elements, and any graphic on canvas achieves a physical texture that no other medium can replicate. Other surfaces like plastic, paper, and metal give off flat displays that don't make as much of an impact. The texture of canvas prints can give off a depth and vibrancy that touches people.

Overall, people are innately attracted to natural materials like wood and cloth. These materials speak to us in ways that harsh, modern materials can’t by reminding us of a simpler time before today’s urbanized world. Whether they realize it or not, people yearn for reminders of the natural world that they may be too busy to enjoy.

The Printing Process - No Paintbrushes Required

You don’t need a skilled and expensive artist to create high quality canvas prints. These displays are now available to anyone with the advent of modern inkjet printers. You can either design your own graphics to go on the canvas, or have a signage provider like WL Concepts create the graphics in house.

Any image that can be printed on paper can also be printed on canvas. The industrial inkjet printers at WL Concepts make large format printing easy and can print out sheets up to 6 feet wide. And even larger displays can be made by combining several sheets to make a sign of any size.

One of the only limitations with canvas prints is that they don't tolerate environmental elements very well, and their use should be limited to interior graphics. Any canvas display set up outdoors will fade just like any other printed display signage. But as long as canvas prints are used inside and kept out of direct sunlight, they will retain their bright colors for years to come.
